The most common foot pain

The most common foot pain that I see in practice is plantar fasciitis. This is a tightening and inflammation of the connective tissue (fascia) on the bottom of the foot. This can create severe pain at the bottom of the foot, especially near the heel. The pain is usually the worst in the morning with the first steps out of bed as the connective tissue can become more contracted overnight. This condition most often affects middle aged people, but can affect younger active people as well.

What can you do about it? One of the best thing you can do to prevent this condition, as well as treat this condition, is stretching the calf muscles. The calf muscles connect to the Achilles tendon, which connects to the heel, which connects to the plantar fascia (it really is all connected). Stretching multiple times a day can be very effective. Specific chiropractic techniques to lengthen the plantar fascia, and to adjust the bones of the feet usually helps the condition to resolve as quickly as possible. Other advanced therapy techniques may also be used for this condition.
