Throwing the Kitchen sink at Migraines!

Migraines! Let's throw the kitchen sink at them! In today’s blog we are talking about migraine headaches and how there can be multiple triggers that can cause them.

With over a decade of practicing Chiropractic care I have witnessed an array of things like stress, hormonal changes, eating and drinking habits, sleep changes, muscle strains, or weather changes cause migraine flare ups in my patients.

Because there are so many factors involved with migraines and headaches, we like to take a multimodal approach. By taking a multimodal approach we are throwing everything including the kitchen sink at those pesky migraine headaches!. Here at Kauffman Chiropractic, the approaches we use in treating migraines, include chiropractic care, massage therapy, supplement use, and encouraging lifestyle changes.

With all the different potential triggers for migraines, it’s important to remember that a one-size-fits-all approach will likely fail. Identifying the specific triggers for each patient is vitally important. If a trigger for one person is tension in the occipital muscles, a massage may be a great fit. While another person may have a trigger of bright lights and the lifestyle change of always having sunglasses on makes all the difference.

In addition to the care that we provide at our office, we also work with other healthcare practitioners to help you in the best way possible. Examples of other healthcare practitioners we might work with are physical therapists for exercise, primary care physicians for medications, and seeing specialists like neurologists, psychologists, or nutritionists.

We have two amazing Licensed Massage Therapists in our office whom I work hand-in-hand with. Each new Chiropractic patient receives a customized treatment plan specialized specifically for you. Sometimes those treatment plans work even better when you introduce massage therapy. As a matter of fact, it has been shown over an eight-week trial that massage therapy can reduce the frequency of migraines as well as improve your sleep quality. We have had a lot of success helping patients with their migraines. If you are ready to give our all-natural approach a try, please give us a call at 513-444-4529!
